Work description
The primary tasks involve teaching Media Technology at basic and advanced levels, as well as conducting research within the department’s current focus. The teaching also includes course coordination, administration and examination, as well as supervising degree projects. The tasks also comprise leading and taking part in external projects, as well as participating in the pedagogical and academic development of courses and educational programmes. Administrative duties and tasks in various groups and committees within the Faculty of Technology, as well as taking part in joint university committees may also be included in the work. Research tasks also include supervision of PhD students, active participation in preparing research applications, as well as dissemination of research results. 

Current research and teaching in the department comprises the following fields: 



• Digital media and interactive systems

• Web and mobile technologies

• Tangible user interfaces

• Technology Enhanced Learning 

Basis of assessment 
Eligibility to the position requires a completed doctoral degree in media technology, interaction design or computer science/informatics focusing on digital media and interactive systems, or the equivalent scientific competence; a clearly documented experience of teaching in the field; a completed university pedagogical education or the equivalent knowledge. 

Applicants shall have competence and good skills within at least two of the following fields: 



• Web applications composition and mashups

• Mobile cross-platform development

• Semantic web technologies and services

• Modern information retrieval techniques for the social web

• Web visualization methods and techniques 

A good ability to communicate in English, both in writing and speech, is a requirement. 

Other meriting qualifications include
Experience of participating in scientific and pedagogical projects on national as well as international levels; experience of cooperation with industry and of conveying information about university work; experience of collaboration and administrative work (e.g. subject and course coordination; experience of distance teaching). The applicant is assumed to function in teacher and student groups where social competence, collaboration skills and flexibility are of great importance. The applicant should also have an interest in pedagogical innovation, course development and scientific work. Good communicative skills, a broad over-arching approach to various issues, as well as administrative ability are other important qualities. 

A command of Swedish is not a requirement at the time of the appointment, but the applicant should be prepared within a couple of years to undertake administrative and pedagogical tasks that presuppose an understanding of Swedish. 

Scientific and pedagogical competences are equally valued. Among other assessment criteria documented experience of cooperation with industry takes priority. We will especially evaluate: 



• the ability to initiate projects

• the ability to successfully apply for external funds

• a broad contact network, preferably with a great international element, within academia as well as industry. 

These are faculty positions. Starting date as soon as possible. The position is located in Växjö.
