Accounting assistant

We are looking for someone who wants to work with our financial reporting. Responsibilities include bookkeeping, account reconciliation, vendor payments and participation in the closing process. You are part of the finance department, which has five employees, and will work closely with and report to the Finance manager. You have relevant training in economics. Experience of similar work would be an advantage but not required. As a person you are structured, thorough and analytical. You find it easy to take responsibility and work together with others.

The key responsibilities within the role includes the following:

- Controlling the accounts payable function with timely processing.
- Loading and control of Bank including uploading payments, downloading statements and monthly reconciliations.
- Manual payments and controls on bank accounts
- Travel expenses associated with payment
- Daily bookkeeping
- Assist in monthly closing procedures
- Manage fixed asset register and yearly inventory
- Ad hoc requests and investigations

Your background
For the role of accounting assistant, we are looking primarily for someone who has completed secondary or higher education in finance and at least two years of experience as an accounting assistant or similar work, this is meritorious but not a requirement.
You should have very good knowledge of Excel and good knowledge of one or more financial systems.
The position is temporary for 6 months, with the possibility of extension or permanent employment.
