Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is recruiting an agile coach to join our Services and Solutions department.

If you want to advance medicines safety globally by creating fit-for-purpose solutions, then this is the right job for you. Together with your colleagues, you will help develop and maintain systems and solutions that will provide people with safer medicines and better quality of life.

The agile coach acts as a servant leader in the organisation and guides our autonomous, self-organising, empowered, and continuously improving product teams. You will assist them by actively reflecting on behaviour and continuously attempting to improve our most important asset - our people, and our way of working. This can be achieved by using our Big Room Planning events, sprint reviews, retrospectives, workshops, ‘scrum of scrums’, feedback, reflection, education, book clubs, and other tools. Continuous improvement of the development process is the focus, so as to deliver outstanding products as fast as possible while incorporating innovation, inspiration, and integrity.

As the agile coach you have a central role in UMC’s strategy and execution alignment. You are a skilled facilitator, who is not afraid to take the lead, and make UMC work towards our common goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

- Facilitate our planning events for our product teams
- Work with product management, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment
- Foster annual calendars and release roadmaps
- Facilitate demos, sprint reviews and structured retrospectives
- Increase transparency; track and improve progress
- Facilitate sync meetings such as ‘scrum of scrums’
- Act selectively as scrum master and support our product owners

Preferred skills:

- Relevant previous experience acting as an agile coach or RTE
- Relevant education and IT working experience
- Knowledge of software development
- Acting experience of managing projects or software delivery teams with agile approach
- Relentless improvement mindset for competent, high performing agile teams
- Positive interpersonal and communication skills with a servant leader mindset

UMC is working for a better world! In our role as a WHO Collaborating Centre, we provide training, guidance, and support to members of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring. We also manage VigiBase, WHO’s database of reported potential side effects of medicinal products – the largest database of its kind in the world.

Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is a centre for international service and scientific research in the field of pharmacovigilance. We are the WHO Collaborating Centre for International Drug Monitoring, and manage the technical and operational aspects of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring since 1978.

As an independent, non-profit foundation, we support the World Health Organization, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders who share our vision of advancing medicines safety. Through research and development of new scientific methods, we explore the benefits and harms of medicines for patients, and offer products and services used by health authorities and the pharmaceutical industry worldwide.
