Entity/Organization
At the Group Trucks Operation Plant in Köping we manufacture gearboxes for trucks, heavy vehicles and marine stern drives for Volvo Penta. The 1400 employees at the site work in an industrial world class environment. The operations at the plant include machining and heat treatment of components as well as assembly of complete gearboxes. The plant is ?Centre of Excellence? regarding Heavy Duty Transmissions. The responsibility is to develop and verify process concepts and solutions for global needs as well as concentrate and develop critical competences within the technology area.

What We Do
The department Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Assembly is testing all of our built transmissions in test stands. The area for the internship is within the assembly end of line testing and to explore NVH (Noise vibration harshness) technology.

What You Will Do
Study of what benefits and quality assurance we can achieve with NVH (Noise vibration harshness) in EOL (End of Line testing) linked to its investment and running cost. The study is a part of an advanced engineering project.
The study will result in benefits and way of working with sound analysis in serial production.
The aim is to identify the most effective set up for the NVH in the EOL for our automatic transmissions
Tasks: Run a working group, conduct tests in production, evaluation of results, investigate way of working with NVH

Internship Length and Start Date

-Preferred start on boarding: February 2017
-4 months

Education

-1st choice: Master 1 year, Mechanical engineer
-2nd choice: Mater 1 year, Production engineer

What You Need to Have

-This specific internship position is open to all students except Sweden, since this is an international program.
-Students in the US, Sweden, Japan and France: You are in your 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor degree or 1st year of a Master degree in your university career.
-Students in China and India: You are in your 3rd year of a Bachelor degree or 1st year of a Master degree in your university career.
-Evidence of leadership experience and/or community service.
-Strong grade point average
-Proficiency in English
-Engaged and open personality, involvement in community work and/or student networks.
-Team player with passion for new experiences
-Interest in the Volvo Group and in sharing internship experience with fellow students
-Valid passport
-Demonstrate the Volvo group values - customer success, passion, performance, change, and trust
