Entitiy/Organization:
At the Group Trucks Operation Plant in Köping we manufacture gearboxes for trucks, heavy vehicles and marine stern drives for Volvo Penta. The 1400 employees at the site work in an industrial world class environment. The operations at the plant include machining and heat treatment of components as well as assembly of complete gearboxes. The plant is ?Centre of Excellence? regarding Heavy Duty Transmissions. The responsibility is to develop and verify process concepts and solutions for global needs as well as concentrate and develop critical competences within the technology area.

What do we do:
We are the Environment, Safety, Security & Management Systems group, called ESS&MS. The group is made up by experienced employees as well as some new additions. The mission for our group is to pro-actively ensure that the plant is a safe and secure working place which fulfils the laws regarding environment and also improve the energy efficiency continuously. The plant has been undergoing a large expansion project recently and is still settling in its new position. This means that there is a lot going on which makes it a very interesting working environment for us in the group, but also for a trainee. As a trainee in our group you will take part in the everyday life at the plant, help out in our on-going projects and also run you own working task.

What will you do:

-Map the waste flows and different fractions such as metal chips, process fluids, packaging material in the production plant.
-Propose how to optimize the waste management from a logistic, environmental and cost efficiency perspective.
-You will work together with the environmental manager and facility manager.

Internship length and start date:

-Preferred start on boarding: February 2017
-3 months

Education

-1st choice: Master 1 year, Engineering with specialization in Logistics & Lean
-2nd choice: Master 1 year, Industrial Engineering

What you need to have:

-This specific internship position is open to all students except Sweden, since this is an international program.
-Students in the US, Sweden, Japan and France: You are in your 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor degree or 1st year of a Master degree in your university career.
-Students in China and India: You are in your 3rd year of a Bachelor degree or 1st year of a Master degree in your university career.
-Experience from production work is preferred
-Evidence of leadership experience and/or community service.
-Strong grade point average
-Proficiency in English
-Engaged and open personality, involvement in community work and/or student networks.
-Team player with passion for new experiences
-Interest in the Volvo Group and in sharing internship experience with fellow students
-Valid passport
-Demonstrate the Volvo group values - customer success, passion, performance, change, and trust
