The Challenge Ahead

Ghost has a vacant position for an outstanding Art Director. You will be responsible for the overall look and visual quality of the game. Working closely with the Senior Art Director you will define the game?s visual look and lead the team to delivering a consistently stunning artistic vision. In early pre-production you will work with the creation of game art profile and communicate that vision to the team. As the Art Director you are responsible for this vision and will push for high quality through production with the Art Leads and Technical Artists. Collaboration with the Graphic Engineers to achieve world class graphics and Audio Director to creating the best possible game experience is required.

What a Development Director does at EA:

As leader of the art team you will inspire and motivate the team to deliver their best work. You must be able to run daily reviews and provide effective feedback to artists. The role also involves managing and mentoring lead artists and providing them with career growth opportunities.

You should have a broad range of experience in games development primarily in the art field. Further you have operated as an Art Director for at least one AAA game. You have a great knowledge in 2d and 3D art. Furthermore, you have a great knowledge of industry-standard software and trends. Experience in film may also be of benefit.

Because this is a leadership role, we are looking for a candidate who has experience leading a team and is good at giving and receiving feedback and constructive criticism. You should also have experience building an art team and delivering against time and technical constraints. You work proactively to identify and manage resources and outsourcing requirements.

The next great EA Associate Art Director also needs:

We are looking for someone who is very well organized, a great team player and with a positive ?can-do? attitude. Great communication skills are essential as you will be required to present to executives and work closely with the marketing team on branding and promotional materials.

As an Art Director you have good Production Design skills to direct the team to create plausible, believable environments. Furthermore, you have a deep understanding of game design and player feedback requirements for visuals. It is important that you possess excellent visual language skills to create a distinct look with the help of lighting, tone, atmosphere. You have a good understanding of the art lighting, shading and post-processing techniques. You like to work together and garner consensus with game designers, producers and engineers. But most important for the position is good leadership skills and that you enjoy being the team leader. You should also want to be in charge of the strategy graphic work rather than the operative graphic work.
