The Section for Public Health Epidemiology and the Section for Social Medicine are multiprofessional and multi-disciplinary work environments within the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine. We conduct skilled teaching and qualified research in a supportive academic work environment. This position will be formally placed at Public Health
Epidemiology but in practice this will be a joint appointment with the Public Helath Science Program which is based at Social Medicine.

Specific subject description
Public health nutrition and obesity are key areas of research at the Department of Public Health Epidemiology and important components in the Public Health program. The focus of our
research is on overweight and obesity in the population, and its etiology, secular trends, health consequences, and preventive work.
Job assignments
The position will consist of teaching and research in equal proportions. Teaching will be primarily at the advanced level in the Public Health Science program, in areas of epidemiology,
qualitative research methods, and public health nutrition. Teaching activities include lectures, seminars, planning, pedagogic development, Master's thesis course, and cooperation with other teaching programs. Research will be developed and implemented within the context of the
research platform the Public Health Epidemiology Unit, with topics including obesity, nutritional science, physical activity assessment, and women's health. In addition to conducting independent research, supervising of undergraduate, Masters's and PhD students is required.
Eligibility
Applicant must have a doctoral degree in Public Health Science or related discipline or have achieved equivalent academic qulifications. Priority should be given to candidates who have been awarded a PhD or achieved equivalent qualifications no more than seven years before the application deadline.
Assessment
Scientific and pedagogic competence will be equally weighted. Secondary assessment criteria will be experience in course leaderships and demonstrated ability to collaborate. Accredited
coursework in pedagogics and research supervision is meritorius. Teaching experience within Public Health Science, in particular nutrition, is especially meritorius. For teaching at the
advanced level, applicants must be fluent in English. A working knowledge of Swedish is also required. If the applicant possibly will apply for promotion to a position as senior lecturer the
grounds for assessment will be: Pedagogic and scientific excellence equally.
