We are searching for a motivated Automation Engineer to strengthen our newly established Fleet Connectivity & Automation unit in the Marine Operations Management of Wallenius Wilhelmsen.

Through this assignment you will work with tasks related to automation, electrical and electronics engineering, as well as digitization infrastructure and vessel IT & communication systems for the Wallenius Wilhelmsen fleet. The initiatives and projects you will work with will cover both existing ships in the fleet as well as possible newbuildings.

Job Description

Main responsibilities and tasks:

• Project Engineering and proof of concepts
• -Sensor system upgrades
• -Data acquisition infrastructure (daily operation, troubleshooting, calibration, support)
• -Vessel digitalization (modification and roll out of data acquisition systems, planning of new use cases)
• -Fleet projects in the field of electrical engineering and vessel automation
• -Engineering, bid management, project execution of fleet projects
• -Monitor sensor technologies, interface technologies, automation technologies, marine communication solutions (VSAT and similar) etc.
• Provide advices and inputs to technical fleet guidelines and quality assurance
• Support incident investigations and spare management
• Fleet technical support on automation and electrical systems
• Maintain vessel and system/vendor documentation

Qualifications and experience:

• Preferably an engineering degree in electrical engineering, automation/cybernetics, marine technology or similar. People with seagoing background will also be considered
• Experience in project engineering, project planning and execution of complex technical projects with many stakeholders in an international environment
• Good knowledge in automation technology/control systems, instrumentation and HMI, electrical engineering, IoT, sensors, data communication and industrial IT
• Experience in marine electronics and communication systems is an advantage

• Pragmatic, adaptive and flexible (able to think outside the box), and at the same time quality oriented in the deliveries
• Technically curious and open minded
• Communication skills are important, and you must desire to work in an international environment with many stakeholders
