At Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions (SMR), we’re in the forefront of developing solutions within automation, electrification and digitalization for the mining and construction industries, and we aim to develop solutions that provide our customers in every corner of the world with the best possible experience. Our company and technology are often perceived as quite exciting, but it all comes down to our people – the bearers of innovation and culture.
We’re now looking for a confident and driven Business Area General Counsel to join us. Someone to inspire change in line with our sustainability goals and support our digital shift to protect and strengthen SMR’s value for its employees, customers, suppliers and communities. This role has a true impact on our business and we’re looking for someone with a strong background in the area, as well as the mindset needed to keep our strategic direction.
Your mission
As you head a global team of general counsels and compliance professionals, you ensure that our legal function gives the best support and advise possible to our local businesses. Your responsibility includes legal support, statutory compliance and risk management for our Business Area, and you assure alignment in strategic initiatives, financial objectives and major projects. You manage and engage in all legal aspects included in sales, distribution, R&D, direct and indirect purchasing, and dispute resolution. As we have a strong growth agenda, you also support the business in M&A activities and integrations.
With confidence and respect, you legally advise our senior management and implement structure and proper policies for this area. You collaborate across functions to bring insights, identify synergies and make sure we have proactive ways of working.
You’re an important part of the management teams of our Business Area and Group Legal function, and you represent our work across legal and finance functions within the company. This position is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and travel is part of your job.
Your character
We’re looking for someone with master’s in Law and extensive experience from practicing law, compliance and risk management, as well as from supporting M&A’s and integrations within a global, industrial company. You have the senior legal experience needed to act independently and to find adequate solutions to new and various situations. Proven leadership skills are required, and you’re also experienced in people, performance and change management. As we act in a global setting, you need excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
We place great value on your personality, characterized by your practical, analytical and decisive mindset. You’re a team player with a strong drive to get things done, and you gain trust both by building long-term relationships and by offering advice and guidance based on legal experience, sound judgment and thorough business understanding.
