CAE Engineer - Valve train analysis

The group Engine CAE at Volvo Cars Powertrain is responsible for advanced technical calculations within the Engine Development department at Volvo Cars. The area of the group includes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), structural analysis (FEM) and other types of mechanical analyses. Analyses are performed on different system levels with the overall purpose of developing attributes, dimensioning components and virtually verify different technical solutions. The different system levels are complete powertrain, complete engine, engine systems and components.

As a CAE Engineer within valve train analysis you will perform calculations on the valve train concerning dynamics and kinematics. The engine transmission such as belt and chain dynamics is also taken into account. Cam profile design is also included.

We are looking for someone that is analytical and has a genuine interest in advanced technical calculations and highly developed methods. The work will be carried out both independently and in teams. As the role will involve a broad span of contacts you should have a strong ability to communicate and to convey results in a structured and understandable way.

Main responsibilities

* Perform calculations on valve train system regarding dynamics and kinematics
* Perform calculations on valve train components
* Perform calculations on belt and/or chain drive systems on the engine
* Analyse results and issue recommendations
* Take part in method development within the area
* Actively participate in development projects and teams

Required qualifications

* M. Sc in Mechanical Engineering with focus on dynamics
* Experience of advanced computer aided analysis
* Experience of analysis of engine valve train and transmissions is meritorious
* Experience of analysis of mechanical systems in a combustion engine is meritorious
Fluent in English, spoken and written
