CFD Engineer, Climate Comfort

The section Contamination and Core CFD is a part of the Environment & Fluid Dynamics department and has a long tradition of using CFD as a tool for engineering and design process. We work within the areas; contamination, climate comfort and aero acoustics and we also support our sister sections thermodynamics and aerodynamics with analysis and method development know-how. The CFD related part of the section is responsible for planning and performing CFD analysis in all phases of vehicle programs, both individually and in teams. We work together with system/attribute leaders, analysis engineers, stylists and designers to develop and verify our systems and components in our future vehicles. An important part of our work is to continuously improve our working processes and methods. Furthermore, close cooperation with universities and participation in global research programs are an essential part of our long term development.

As CFD Engineer, Climate Comfort you will individually and in teams plan and carry out CFD simulations. Based on the results you will five recommendations for improvement on the design to fulfill existing system requirements. Apart from our Vehicle Program you will also support ongoing Method Development and Advanced Engineering tasks. To some extent you will also support other attributes within the department with CFD analysis.

You establish and develop relationships with representatives from many areas of the vehicle meaning you will therefore build and maintain a wide personal network within Volvo Cars. As part of our team, you get access to long term development opportunities in a continuously growing field!

Main responsibilities

* Plan and carry out CFD simulations within the area Climate Comfort
Propose improvements to reach system requirement through CFD
* Strengthen the product impact by means of CFD
* Support other areas within the department
* Develop working processes, methods and tools within the working area
* Develop synergies within and outside the department

Required qualifications

* MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Physics
* At least 2 years of industrial and/or academic experience in CFD
* Experience from automotive CFD including at least one of the following attributes; aerodynamics, thermodynamics, contamination, climate comfort or aero acoustics
* Experience of CFD impact on product development
* Fluent in speaking and writing Swedish and English
* Skills in several of our main tools; ANSA, Ansys/Fluent, openFoam, CCM+, Harpoon and EnSight
