Role description:

Beckers industrial coatings is looking for a self-reliant polymer or formulation chemist with experience in coatings and/or plastics. You primary responsibility will be to design and develop high performance, new generation coating technology for the automotive industry. You perform practical laboratory work including; creating paint formulations from scratch, troubleshooting, paint application, testing, analysis and small scale paint manufacture. You will also be responsible for training, supervision and guidance to laboratory personnel.

This is a highly communicative role, where you participate as well as give presentations at Becker Group technical meetings, and also meet with raw material suppliers and equipment suppliers to keep up with new technologies and trends in the market. You will seek collaboration projects with research groups and universities.

You belong to an international R&D group and report to R&D manager in Liverpool, UK. This role will therefore require frequent travel to UK, for team meetings and update on project progress.



Qualifications

For this role, Becker Industrial Coatings is seeking a chemist with a minimum Bachelors degree, possibly with a higher education and research experience from university or industry. We believe that the successful candidate has experience from plastic related chemistry, coatings or ideally automotive coatings. As a person you are a self-sustainable project manager with technical interest and willingness to stay current in your technical knowledge. You are methodical, organized and communicative. You are fluent, both written and verbal in English. Experience from quality management systems is an advantage, as well as laboratory safety experience.
