Chief Innovation Officer

Surgical Science is a leading supplier of medical training simulators. Our training systems are used by medical training centers and institutions worldwide for practice, validation, and certification of students, surgeons, and medical doctors.
We are now looking for a Chief Innovation Officer to join our global organisation, placed at any of our Swedish offices!
The Chief Innovation Officer (CNIO) will actively identify key areas for innovative transformation, develop plans according to varying timelines, and manage these processes by aligning innovation goals with the company's broader business objectives. The position requires leadership that is detail-driven, strategic, motivated, and has a forward-leaning approach to business. The CNIO will demonstrate a track record of successful high-level interventions and projects which result in long-term competitiveness within the Surgical Science Global organization.
Responsibilities
· Meet regularly with “Innovation Stakeholders” at different levels to identify areas of need for innovation and growth.
· Define and keep current the business’s goals
·Identify innovation trends and business opportunities
· Develop, strategize, plan, and oversee new interventions
· Help ensure the company is structured for responsible growth that will be efficient, productive, and profitable
· Organize teams to enhance the innovative potential of the business.
· Engage with internal and external stakeholders to enhance innovative thinking around the company.
· Serve as the company advocate when promoting long-term initiatives with different stakeholders
· Assist with sales efforts, contracting and defining deliverables when engaging with industry partners.
Requirements
· PhD in engineering or life sciences
· At least 10 years’ experience in the field
· Practical experience in medicine
· History of peer reviewed publications
· Strong background in software development
· Proven expertise in computer graphics and VR
· 10 years or more in a team management role
