Backdrop
Climate change and the energy sector’s role in the transition to a low carbon society is a key topic in many countries and certainly in the countries where Vattenfall is present and this is expected to remain the case for many years to come. Vattenfall has a clear business strategy: to enable fossil free living within one generation. Our strategy is not only highly relevant in the countries where we operate, but it is becoming increasingly well known outside our company as well. We are also clear about how we view our role in the energy transition – we see this as an opportunity to sharpen our competitiveness for the future and we want to actively contribute to the change, not be a passive by-stander.
Internally, Vattenfall has seen a sharp increase in employee engagement in the past years and a strong support for the Vattenfall purpose. In September 2021 we committed ourselves to the 1.5 degree scenario of the Paris agreement. Among other things, this requires an acceleration of the company decarbonization strategy, as well as an even more proactive approach to industrial partnerships. This also means engaging our employees on the journey of making the 1.5 degree target a profitable business for Vattenfall.
Since November 1, 2020 Vattenfall has a new CEO, Anna Borg. In addition, six members of the senior executive team are new or in new positions. This means that half of the executive team has changed in some way during the past year.
All in all, this leads to a very high demand on particularly Anna to be present in different parts of Vattenfall and also to participate in various external events including doing media interviews.

Since Vattenfall is part of the Swedish critical infrastructure many of our positions are security classed. If this position is security classed the final candidates can be subject to a security vetting process, according to the Swedish legislation.
