The Communications and External Relations Division at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Communications Officer position.

Description of directorate/division
The Communications & External Relations Division is responsible for managing the strategic and daily communications with ESS public and key stakeholders.

Description of main responsibilities
As Communications Officer your main responsibilities will be to contribute to and implement the ESS Communication Policy relative to Press & Media, including: 



• Liaise with and answer enquiries from media, individuals and other organizations

• Research, write and disseminate information to media

• Explain complex scientific topics to a general audience

• Collect and analyse media coverage

• Maintain and update information on the ESS website

• Foster community relations

• Communicate to staff and key stakeholders via Newsletter and Intranet

• Support teams in brand and communication related issues

• Present ESS to key stakeholders and the public

Qualifications
To be successful and perform well in this position, you have:


• Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt to different audiences

• A sincere passion for Science and ways it may positively impact society

• Strong collaboration and networking skills

• Ability to be flexible and to function effectively under pressure

• A portfolio of writing examples that demonstrate both an analytical approach and strong creativity

• Excellent experience working with computer software, internet and digital media

• Ability to work in an international environment is essential

• Excellent oral and written Swedish and English skills are a prerequisite

• Additional fluency in another European language is an advantage

• At least 5 years working experience within communications

As a person you are:



• Self-motivated, objective driven with ability to work autonomously

• Ability to prioritize and manage overlapping and numerous projects simultaneously

• Ability to work effectively in a team

• Commited to meeting deadlines

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
