Marine & Ports is a division within ABB’s business Process Automation that assists shipping companies to transfer containers in a reliable, fast, and cost efficient way. Specialized in advanced automation and information systems for motion control of all types of container cranes, Marine & Ports is the leading supplier of crane systems and is active worldwide.
You will be part of the automation research and development team and will contribute as a lead engineer and specialist in our systems for motion control and automation of container cranes. In this important role, you will actively work with technical leadership of R&D work packages, as well as implementation of automation solutions and crane control algorithms.
This role is reporting to the Manager for Motion Control & Sensor department.
Your responsibilities
Take technical leadership and ensure identified R&D work packages get implemented working with resources in the department.
Develop systems and solutions for crane motion and control using your experience in control theory.
Work actively with sensor solutions in relation to control optimization to increase automation performance and efficiency.
Improve our automation solutions as well as establish simulations related to crane motion control and position load control.
Expand your knowledge base of customer needs and technological developments in control theory and simulation.
Pursue new ideas for technological innovation and share expertise in team meetings and technical reports.

Your background
A Masters’ degree in Control Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Mechatronics or similar.
Confident technical leader who facilitates teamwork and communicates clearly at all levels.
Solid knowledge of control theory.
Competency in relevant programming languages 1131-3 Structured Text, Matlab, Python, C/C++.
Open to travel globally and support crane optimization initiatives.
A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies.
A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
English required, Swedish not mandatory but beneficial.
On the personal level, you are positive, relentless, driven, curious and open to change.
You are a person with a strong focus on delivery and your communicative and collaborative skills help you build trust both in the team and towards colleagues and customers.
You are open-minded and contribute with positive and proactive mindset, as well as with the ability to create a good atmosphere.
