At PowerCell you will be a member of the Fuel Cell Design Team which is responsible for the polymer electrolyte membrane electrode assembly (MEA), unit cell and fuel cell stack development. The Fuel Cell Design Team also works closely with the Systems Teams to develop efficient overall system solutions. At PowerCell we cooperate with carefully selected automotive suppliers, technology consultant companies and research institutes to implement the best possible technical and commercial solutions in our product portfolio. As a “Development Engineer - 0D/1D CFD Engineer” you will work mainly within our project organization and report to both your line manager and respective project managers. You will work with developing simulation tools for a wide range of different applications such as marine, telecom back-up, auxiliary power, fuel cell range extenders and full propulsion automotive fuel cell systems. Together with our highly skilled team of engineers and scientists you will create added value for a wide range of different customers.
To succeed in this position, you need a technical mindset and a pragmatic problem-solving attitude. A fundamental understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and computational science is important.
Responsibilities and tasks
- With the help of 0D/1D simulations predict behaviour of unit cells, fuel cell stacks and components
- Evaluate performance of the fuel cell
- Ensuring even and sufficient media supply
- Cooling evaluation and optimization
- Take an active part in driving the simulation team forward
- Develop and evaluate 0D/1D simulation methods
- Support 3D CFD
- Take part in design development and component/material selection
- Verification/validation
- Interpretation of data
Required qualifications:
- M.Sc. in relevant engineering field
- Good understanding of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
- Knowledge about numerical methods and solvers
- Background and interest in numerical simulations
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in cross functional teams
- Fluent in English, both oral and written
Additional desirable qualifications:
- A few years’ working experience within the field of numerical simulations
- Experience from relevant 1D simulation tools, e.g. GT-suite
- Experience from relevant 3D simulation tools, e.g. Ansys fluent
- Electrochemical know-how
- PEM Fuel Cells experience/know-how
- Swedish language skills
