Höganäs is the global thought leader in its industry and our ambition is to become the first green metal powder producer in the world. We are looking for a Material Development Engineer who can join us on our journey of change and climate neutrality.
About the position
We are constantly striving towards further optimizing our processes for existing and future powders, to get as competitive powder as possible. The PM Material Development group within the EMT section has the assignment to develop new and innovative powder material and process solutions for PM component applications. The development work is run in close collaboration with other parts of the EMT section like PM Business Development and Product Management as well as other parts of the Höganäs Group and with frequent interaction with external partners (customers, OEM's, universities etc.). Specifically for this position the candidate will work in close collaboration with Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and will have the opportunity to perform an industrial Ph.D on a subject related with the company’s strategic targets. This PhD is funded by the Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability (WISE). The main task of this position is to drive material development and characterization work for PM steel applications as well as communicating new findings in the department and within the Höganäs Group. You will also support the Höganäs Group and customers with material and processing recommendations for new and existing applications. The work will be performed at Höganäs’ production sites in Höganäs.

Your profile
We are looking for you who has good knowledge in Metallurgy and Material Science and at least 2 years of experience in alloy/application development work. Suitable education is a Master of Science, or an equivalent degree in Material Science preferably specialized in steel metallurgy, in material characterization, testing, and alloy design software. As a Material Development Engineer you are analytic and structured and have a genuine technical interest. You are a team player and are eager to share your experiences and knowledge. You are also responsible to initiate, plan and drive material development and characterization activities in accordance with the goals of the company. Cooperation with the sites in Sweden as well as on an international level with suppliers and subsidiaries requires you to have excellent skills in speech and writing in both Swedish and English.
