Dimensional Management Engineer/ Geometry System Development

Dimensional Management responsibility is to create and define design pre-requisites before start of part design in respect of positioning systems and geometrical tolerances. Also to simulate geometrical variation and describe expected fulfilment of geometrical requirements set on Complete Vehicle for functional and aesthetic requirements.

Responsibilities and tasks
• Develop optimized Main- & Subordinate system architecture by defining robust part positioning to meet expected requirements in decided assembly process.
• Allocate tolerances based on decided prerequisites such as materials, manufacturing processes, concepts, to the Main- and Subordinate systems.
• Create system description on delivery unit level showing positioning system together with tolerances and deliver to respective engineering team. Subordinate system on Body CPL are delivered to Body engineering. These system descriptions are to be used as Design prerequisites and attached to the supplier sourcing documents
• Predict Geometrical Aesthetic and Functional Final Demand fulfillment, by simulating/calculating together with experience judgment.
• Support the packaging team with simulations/calculations when geometrical variation needs to be considered in the packaging work.
• By benchmarking and other studies maintain good knowledge and understanding about good and bad in geometry systems at our competitors as well as in our own products.
• Participate in the work of optimizing split line positioning. Propose design- and styling solutions to minimize the effect of geometrical variation in the assembly process.
• Follow up and secure that the positioning system with location points, together with agreed tolerances have been properly documented on 2D drawing or in 3D model.
• Support Manufacturing Engineering in the physical verification with history of work in each GSU area.
 

Profile and Background
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of product development and manufacturing.
• At least four years of practical and/ or theoretical knowledge for geometrical variations.
• You are proactive regarding your work tasks
• You have an ability to analyze and find solutions to technical problems.
• Experience and ability to independently lead tasks and cross functional meetings.
• Fluent in English, spoken and written
• Work experience of 3d tolerance simulation software (RD&T preferred).
• You are a team worker with respect for different opinions
• You have good planning skills and you are able to work in a structured way
• You have an openness and awareness of Asian, European and foreign cultures
• You are flexible and open minded
• Willing to help others and to ask for help when needed
