The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, and founded by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons and operates the brightest neutron source in the world.

Our Reactor Division, whose role is to produce the neutrons needed to supply the ILL's scientific instruments, is responsible for operating all the technical installations associated with the reactor. Our teams are currently looking for an:

Electrical Engineering Technician

Duties:
As an active member of our Electricity/Distribution/Automation group, which is responsible for the maintenance of the power distribution and automation/process control systems for the ILL's high-flux reactor, you will have the following duties:

Maintaining and upgrading low-voltage equipment and power supply systems
Drafting specifications for the supply of equipment and the carrying out of installation work, monitoring subcontractors, preparing and conducting tests, and updating documentation (electrical drawings, technical data sheets)
Identifying the needs of the users before maintenance and installation work is carried out
Reporting on activities.

Qualifications and experience:
Level 4 or Level 5 qualification (NVQ, BTEC HNC/HND or equivalent) or apprenticeship degree in electrical engineering.
Some initial experience is required of designing electrical installations and producing drawings in a design office environment.
Experience of installing and commissioning low-voltage switchgear in an industrial environment.
You are interested in working in the nuclear sector in an integrated quality management system.
You have a "hands-on", methodical and meticulous approach to your work, a strong service-oriented attitude and good writing skills.
You are able to work independently or as part of a team while complying with regulatory requirements.

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
