Engineering Manager - Viaplay

Engineering Manager - Viaplay

Arbetsbeskrivning

Would you like to be part of building the most sought-after streaming service in the Nordics? Great, we might have the challenge for you! We’re currently looking for an Engineering Manager to lead two of our cross-functional product development teams here at our office in Stockholm. If this is you - go ahead and apply!

The position
In the role as Engineering Manager, you will lead two of our Viaplay Product Development teams. Our product development process is driven by autonomous cross-functional development teams (design, client- and backend development, QA). The day-to-day work is led by a Product Manager who owns the backlog and focuses on the product initiatives. Your role as Engineering Manager will be to manage and coach the teams, drive personal and professional growth and make our co-workers feel happy, appreciated and listened to. This is, in other words, a managerial position that focuses on people management rather than technical management. You will join a team of five well versed, forward-thinking and humorous Engineering Managers and together you will create the best place to work in the Nordic tech market!

Other fun facts about us: we develop our whole product in-house, here in our office at Ringvägen 52. We use methods like Product Discovery to make sure we create products that our customer loves. We work with cutting edge technology and believe in putting innovation in the heart of things in order to create the best possible streaming product out there. We are investing a lot in our culture and our ambition is to create and maintain an environment where everyone can relax, be themselves, grow and be challenged. Join us today and help us transform the world of entertainment!

The challenge ahead
We are an organisation that has pretty recently gone through a change in our way of working; from technical platform teams to autonomous cross-functional product teams. This has provided us with some challenges, but also loads of learnings and opportunities. We are currently finding our optimal way of working. Also, we are a growing organisation, hiring both locally and globally. Some of your future challenges in this role will be:

- Driving staffing and recruitment for your teams.
- Coaching your teams and individuals, e.g.agile best practices, team dynamics, personal and professional growth etc.
- Working with other Engineering Managers to create autonomy and ways for teams and individuals to acquire new competencies and skills.
- Helping teams find ways of maximizing productivity.
- Wary about employee well being.

What we are looking for
To be our new Engineering Manager, we believe that you are an experienced leader in the technology industry. You thrive in daily interactions with your teams and like to find new ways to do our job in an even better way. If you also, just like us, like to have fun at work and share energy - we might have a match!

Successful candidates also meet the following requirements:

- Experience from leading roles in an expanding tech organisation.
- Experienced in leading, coaching and mentoring individuals and teams.
- Knowledgeable about product development.
- Solid experience of working in an agile environment.
- Previously worked with people from different backgrounds, having different views and finding it inspiring.

Bonus requirements that will make you stand out from the rest:

- Experience from the media industry.
- Experience from knowledge sharing patterns and practices in a product organisation.

We offer you
- Freedom to try out new things and independent decision-making by our autonomous teams.
- A place to grow and learn from our mistakes. We have a learning and development focused environment with an emphasis on knowledge sharing, training and regular internal technical talks.
- An innovative environment with hack days two times a year.
- An international and diverse environment with people from all over the world working here. We have 35+ different nationalities in the office coming from different backgrounds.
- An attractive offer with a beneficial occupational pension plan, insurance plan, health care, 30 days of paid vacation, flexible work hours and parental leave pay lift.
