Experienced Development Engineer as “Chief Engineer”

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Do you want to work with complete vehicle issues and manage technical issues within the business of Defence trucks?

The department Customized Truck Development is responsible for customer and market adaptations of trucks as well as complete vehicles including bodywork. Within Defence Business we are responsible for all technical issues both in the offering phase as well as the order phase.

At the moment we have 2 major orders for the Dutch and Danish defence organisations and several tenders are ongoing or upcoming. Therefore we need to reinforce our possibility to support in Defence tenders and are now in need of an experienced engineer with good communication skills to front the role as Chief Engineer.

Chief Engineer is a role used within Defence business where the Chief Engineer is responsible and the main contact for any technical issue in a specific business and is e.g. responsible for development work, system safety and verification of the requirements.

You will be supported by the other Chief Engineers already in the team to quickly get into work and to whom you continuously will be able to discuss specific topics.

You will


• handle technical requirements from our defence customers
• manage all technical issues internally connected to your specific business both in the offering phase as well as the order phase
• manage the technical dialogue with defence customers and together with market representatives discuss technical possibilities with the customer
• support engineers within the team both in understanding customers need as well as support to fulfil the customer requirements

You profile

Your main experience is long term knowledge of the Scania product. It is essential to be familiar with the technical terms used within Scania as well as the product itself and also to understand the performance steps to use in the dialogue with our demanding customers within the Defence industry.

You know how to use a complete truck both in driving as well as in use of the bodywork e.g. off-road driving, winching and use of a loading crane, simply be familiar in what the user of the vehicle experience and need.

It is also important to be able to handle the buying customer in a professional way, eye-to-eye, as well as understand the need of the customer before the need is spoken.
