Arbetsbeskrivning

Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The University has 40 000 students and more than 8 000 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.

Work duties and areas of responsibility
As a floor coordinator at MAX IV you will work in a small team mainly supporting the beamlines that are in operation.

Typically but not restricted to this support would be tasks associated with installations, repairs, maintenance, service and safety. You will play a key role when coordination and communication is required between different beamlines or between beamlines and other parts of the MAX IV organisation or external support functions. The work tasks might vary from hosting relevant meetings, perform follow-ups, establishing new routines when required but also supporting the beamlines with more practical work.

Requirements
As a floor coordinator at MAX IV you must have a deep understanding of beamlines and related technical systems. This experience can only have been obtained by working for several years at synchrotrons, close to beamlines, e.g. as a research engineer on one or preferably several beamlines or at a central support function. You are familiar with many different X-ray based experimental methods and their special technical requirements. You are used to communicate with scientific personnel and understand their needs.

Driving licence is required.

Desirable
You are expected to have a broad experience of beamline related support and infrastructure systems. These typically include e.g. vacuum, cryogenics, ventilation, gasses, cooling water, PLC and motor control. We also expect you to take an active rule in the safety work especially in connection with larger installations at the beamlines. It is therefore an advantage if you have experience of acting as Building Work Environment Coordinator (in Swedish BAS P & U) and applicable education.

Most of all you enjoy interacting with people from different groups, are dedicated to provide excellent service, are structured and able to establish new routines. You enjoy being present on the experimental hall floor and you are excited about not knowing which challenges the day will bring. Finding solutions where there are no established routines. You communicate without any hinder in English, written and spoken but it is also preferred that you can make yourself understood in Swedish. We believe you have an Engineering background.

Probationary period may apply.
