Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

What do we offer?
We work according to the Scale agile framework (SAFe) and are organized in Agile Release Trains (ARTs). Our ART is Surface Material (SMArt) and is included in ‘In Car Experience’ (Interior) within Vehicle Hardware. We are responsible for developing all interior Surface Materials in our cars.
SMArt consists of  three teams; Textile (SMArt-Tex), Deco, Polymers & Leather (DPL) and the system Team supporting the complete ART and we are looking for a Foil & Grain Technical Leader to the DPL team!

What will you do?
As a Material Technical Leader (MTL) within Foil & Grain you will have the responsibility to develop and decide on future technologies within the area of Foils, PU-spray and Grains. You will work closely together with other development teams and suppliers, as well as the Design and Procurement department here at Volvo Cars.

You will follow relevant research within the material area and make sure deliveries of materials correspond with appearance and haptic to our new car programs.

The job also includes:

•    Making and keeping time plans for deliveries
•    Developing our processes to be better and more efficient
•    Leading and planning Advanced Engineering projects from idea to implementation in Car programs

Do you fit the profile?
To be successful in this role we believe that you have a University degree, preferably within material development/engineering and/or relevant work-life experience from the technical field. Since you will work in a global setting, we expect you to be fluent in English.

Competence and experience are important, but we place great importance in who you are as a person. We are looking for a person with a good sense of humor who is a great team player.  As a leader within your area of expertise you have to be motivated, self-propelled with a lot of curiosity for new technologies and a good sense for design, color and shape.

You possess good communication and presentation skills and work to inspire those around you. For you, deadlines are actually deadlines and you take pride in delivering on time. You are also analytical, structured and have a good sense for both technical and strategic work.
