BillerudKorsnäs is seeking a Food Safety Expert with a background in Microbiology. The position is based at BillerudKorsnäs’ Frövi site.

The main focus of the R&D department is to take new products from idea to launch. Through an in-depth understanding of our materials and our processes, we develop and offer smarter and more sustainable products to the market. R&D also offers the company expertise in selected areas such as Product Safety, IPR and Microbiology.

The R&D Department is organized under the Strategic Development unit, along with the Investment Management and New Business Lab departments. As an organization, we are expected to challenge our company, our market and ourselves to think in new ways. For that reason, we are now looking forward to recruiting candidates with a curious mind to strengthen our development teams at our Frövi, Gruvön, Gävle and Skärblacka sites.

Your challenge
You will be our company´s expert in Food Safety related to Microbiology, with a co-ordinating function between the company´s production sites.

From this platform, you will support our production and market organizations with expertise in monitoring, understanding and controlling Microbiology from a Food Safety perspective. You will also ensure that BillerudKorsnäs holds a leading position in understanding Food Safety related to Microbiology, and you will participate actively in industry standardization work within the field.

You will engage in direct dialogue with our customers and their experts in Microbiology, and working with the production units, you will ensure that the control of processes is based on best available knowledge.

To broaden your competence, you will also participate in other R&D activities, such as product development projects, improvement teams and investigations.

Who are we looking for?
You have a relevant education for the position, e.g. an M.Sc. in Biotechnology or Microbiology, with a subsequent Ph.D. and/or some years of work experience, preferably in the food industry or at a similar company acting downstream in our value chain.

With your background, you will bring knowledge to our company from the start, but you are also an eager learner. You are curious and want to deepen and broaden your competence together with us.

You have good communication skills and will gain the confidence of the people you meet and work with, through your honest drive for understanding and improvement.

The position is based at our site in Frövi and the role requires travel in and outside Sweden.

The position is full time and the appointment will take place during the autumn 2013.
