Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Fuel Systems is responsible for fuel system development. Within the section, the group high pressure fuel pumps and rails has overall responsibility for developing the high pressure pumps, rails and lines used on all Scania engines.

The group is currently comprised of nine people. The job is varied and requires good interpersonal skills throughout the development chain.

As a Design Engineer within our group you will play an important role in driving forward the next generation fuel systems. We are facing new exiting challenges since we now serve both our Scania internal customers as well as the different customers within VW Truck & Bus worldwide.

We develop both high pressure pumps, rails and lines for our diesel engines and are currently in the process of developing the next generation high pressure pump rails and lines with improved efficiently and product properties. Our area of responsibility includes design, testing and Supplier development. The high-pressure components plays a vital role in the overall efficiency of the engine and we therefore have a broad collaboration within engine and controls development as well as with the leading suppliers within fuel system development.

Your Role
As a Design engineer your work tasks will vary between Design, testing, problem solving, method development , coordination. Your overall responsibility is to ensure that your assigned component is developed to meet our design targets. On a day to day basis your tasks and responsibilities will include:


• Design and layout is ensured for your assigned components
• Specifying requirements and coordinating development tasks with our suppliers and responsible Test engineer
• Planning and analysing results from component simulations and calculation, tests on rig, engine tests and on truck applications and responsible for verification of your assigned component
• Determining trade-offs to ensure hardware is of the correct status to meet project goals and delivering on these goals
• Representing the group within cross-functional groups at engine development, including purchasing, production and service.
• Continuously improve our design guidelines
• Fuel system technical support within organisation
• Design experience of Machine elements

Your Profile
We think you have a Bachelors or Master’s degree in engineering. Since your work will be design related it is of merit if you have at least 6-10 years user experience of the CAD tools and systems used here at Scania.

You have the ability to structure your own work as well as coordinate tasks with our suppliers. You are a team player with the ability to interact well with suppliers and other functions within the company. A major portion of our work is carried out in collaboration with international partners so you should have an excellent command of English as well as Swedish.
