Q&CS Product Safety is a global function within Group Trucks Technology Quality & Customer Satisfaction (GTT Q&CS), responsible for Product Safety assurance within GTT for the complete product lifecycle.

This covers activities to both prevent Product Safety risks during the development and address potential safety-related issues identified on vehicles operated in the market.

There is now an opportunity for you to join the Product Safety team, and become one of the key Volvo Group Safety experts for applications on Volvo Trucks, Renault Trucks, UD, Eicher and other GTT deliveries.

GTT Q&CS Functional Safety Engineer

Mission
Safety is a core value of the Volvo Group and a prerequisite for customer satisfaction. Within the Group Trucks Technology (GTT), Quality & Customer Satisfaction drives cross-functional quality and safety work within GTT to secure Volvo Group leadership in customer satisfaction.

As Functional Safety Engineer, you will support engineering by contributing to the development of functions and products that are safe, reliable, available and maintainable. This includes identifying and mitigating with engineering the impact and occurrence of potential failures of a vehicle function, system, component, etc. that could lead to unwanted customer effects.

Volvo processes for assuring functional safety are currently based on Dependability Analyses. You will have the opportunity bring your previous experience of ISO26262 to contribute to the coming application of the standard in Volvo Group Trucks Technology.

The scope covers the components delivered by GTT to all Volvo Group Truck Sales and Marketing (TSM) divisions and Business Areas (BAs).

In this position you will be part of a global highly experienced team and report to the GTT Product Safety Director (located in Gothenburg). You will have a close cooperation with the GTT, TSM divisions and BAs personnel working with Safety.

Main activities and responsibilities
- Lead dependability studies through a cross-functional working group, including suppliers as required.
- Fulfill relevant project deliveries according to Volvo Group processes, including risk identifications, mitigation and safety cases.
- Contribute actively to the adaptation of existing Volvo functional safety process to follow the ISO26262 standard
- Support engineers with expert competence in Product Safety assurance.

Qualifications
- Master of science in engineering or industrial risk management
- Practical experience with Product safety assurance
- Previous experience of application of dependability analysis process and tools and/or ISO26262 Functional safety standard.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written

The following areas will be considered an advantage:
- General technical knowledge in automotive engineering, such as electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanics (mechatronic systems)
- General technical knowledge of Volvo Group products
- Knowledge of Industry standards on Safety
