We at Volvo Construction Equipment in Eskilstuna conduct research and development towards these areas & technologies. This paradigm shift in the construction industry introduces new safety challenges. This is where the Functional Safety and Security comes into the picture not only to strengthen prevailing safety expertise and culture but also to address contemporary security and safety risks of electronic embedded systems.
Embedded Electronic System (EES) organization supports Volvo CE machines with an embedded system used as a foundation and enabler for all machine functions and features to support connectivity, service solutions, autonomous functions and electromobility.
We are globally responsible to drive, develop and maintain that our Electronic Architecture is used by all machines within Volvo CE.
We in the EES-architecture department are on an exciting and challenging journey and need to expand our team. We are now recruiting a Functional safety lead engineer with the expertise and knowledge to help drive development and implementation of Functional Safety solutions that will support all Volvo CE machines. Collaboration between cyber security- & functional safety-engineers will be a natural interaction due to the close relation between these two areas.




About the position


We aiming to strengthening the team with a Functional Safety lead engineer with a great interest in Functional safety and leadership to, inspire, plan, prioritize and follow-up activities within the team and to support in development.
You will be part of a dedicated team in functional safety and security. Together with the team, you will work to build up and secure the Electric/Electronic-system safety and security. With safety means no harm is caused, deliberately or not and security means that no deliberate harm is caused.
You will apply your knowledge and experience to analyze functional safety risks and identify functional safety requirements. Your will propose technical concepts and solutions. This requires identifying what the required safety functions are, assessment of the risk-reduction required by the safety function, ensuring the safety function performs to the design intent, verification, and providing proper documentation.
These activities are performed in a cross-functional manner involving colleagues from different Volvo organizations. You will contribute to the knowledge management activities in functional safety. Finally, you have possibilities of participating in research, technology development and advanced engineering activities in functional safety area.

Required qualifications
• Academic degree, M.Sc or B.Sc in Electrical / Electronic engineering, Systems Engineering, Safety Engineering or other technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• Experience and knowledgeable in Functional Safety standard lifecycle through concept, system, hardware and software design.
• Must be pro-active and not one who waits on what to be told to do
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, proficiency in Swedish is desirable


Beneficial qualifications
It is meritorious to have one or more of the following:
• Experience of working with electronic system in the automotive industry
• Good understanding of robust and reliable system/software engineering/design principles
• Knowledge of machinery directive 2006/42 / EC.
• Knowledgeable of any functional safety standards, such as IEC61508, ISO13849, ISO19014 or ISO26262
• Experience of functional safety audit and assessment.
• Experience of leading a small team of Engineers.
