Group Core Systems Manager

Main purpose
The purpose of the position is to manage a geographically dispersed team of technical specialists responsible for the core systems that is hosted in Nobia’s data centers and cloud partners.

Reports to
Group Infrastructure Director

The job (main areas of responsibility)

• Work with the infrastructure Director; and Applications Director to develop group hosting strategy
• Manage the team responsible for Core Storage and Hosting Solutions as well as Microsoft Infrastructure technologies, including Active Directory and Exchange
• Manage the ongoing maintenance roadmap for solutions, including patching and upgrades
• Work with the Head of IT Security to ensure solutions are secure and policies are adhered to
• Provide project and strategy support to ensure future developments and changes adhere to Nobia’s strategy and best practice


Required mobility/travel days
Infrequent travel required, and when required will not consistently be more than 3 days at a time; however there may be a rare occasion where travel will be required in excess of 3 days.

Your experience (required previous work experience and competence)

• At least 10 years’ experience in an IT technical background, with at least 5 years practical experience of managing a team in a multinational organization
• Excellent up-to-date knowledge of current and developing security developments; including all elements of cyber security; malware and intrusion detection and prevention technologies and techniques
• A hands-on technical background in large scale server deployments across multiple geographical regions
• Previous experience in managing a team of technical staff, ideally with across geographical locations
• Experience in trending and forecasting server capacity in virtualized environment
• Experience in dealing with hosting in a third party or cloud based laaS solution


Your formal background (required qualifications and training)

• Preferably an IT; Business; or Science degree, plus relevant recent experience in the management of IT systems


Other Areas
Must have a real sense of delivering highly available hosting solutions for the business. You need to have a sense of the primacy of running the everyday business while still being able to foster a sense of innovation and controlled change, which allows for the deployment of novel solutions. Also to have a clear understanding of the issues associated with delivering applications and the ability to work hand in hand with application colleagues to create reliable service.

Personal characteristics
You should have a great attention to detail and accuracy, and be open and flexible to adapt to changing needs and situation.

Required language skills
Excellent English (written and spoken).
