Group Manager Mechanic, Vehicle & Driveline Work

This position belongs to department 91600, Product Development Laboratory, at the PD (Product Development) Volvo Powertrain Sweden, located in Gothenburg. Product Development Laboratory is a complete test laboratory with test capability for engine, transmission, drive line, acoustic and system testing. Within Product Development Laboratory we are today focusing on increased effectiveness, future investments and we are implementing Volvo production System. In this phase we are looking for a group manager for Maintenance & Storage. Job Description: Department 91622, Mechanic, Vehicle & Driveline Workshop is now looking for a Group Manager. The group consists of approximately 25 persons. The group is divided in three main areas. Driveline Workshop is responsible for assembly/disassembly, modification and preparation of transmissions for tests in test cells/rigs or vehicles. Vehicle Workshop is responsible for assembly/disassembly, modification and preparation of engines and transmissions for tests in vehicles. Mechanic Workshop is responsible for special preparation and machining for projects and maintenance support. As demands for delivery precision, effectiveness and quality in deliveries are increasing, this group are facing a number of challenges. You will be responsible to implement new processes and IT-tools that secure delivery to customer with high quality, to the right cost in time. As manager you will be responsible for: Secure and develop competence within the responsible area Active coaching of your team Defining goals for your organization and follow up Ensure that your group is constantly striving to deliver with quality, effectiveness and according to time plans Together with your team plan, prioritize activities and define responsibilities for team members Secure good communication and relation with your direct customers Active use of VPS, Volvo production System, for continuous improvements in deliveries, performance and team work Qualifications: Technical education or equivalent experience Drive to improve our processes and way of working Result oriented Ability to set up goals and communicating goals to create commitment Proven ability to motivate and inspire people Fluent in Swedish and English, both written and spoken Experience of working within product development organization or manufacturing is considered a merit Be an inspiring leader and have a genuine interest in working close with people Courage and confidence to give and take feedback
