Job Function Summary:

Legal & Compliance is a newly established department in Getinge, and is comprised of the following functions: Ethics & Compliance, Litigation & IPR, Corporate Legal, Regulatory Counsel, Head of Corporate and Commercial Legal NAM, LATAM, EMEA and APAC.


Legal & Compliance has a vital role in enabling and supporting Getinge and its leaders in: managing legal and conduct risk in how business is done, creating a business environment, which embeds responsibility for ethics and law into daily operations, ensuring better control and predictability for the business on a global scale, as well as, creating a sustainable and responsible business.


Legal & Compliance also plays a vital role in supporting the business on a global, regional and local level with contractual arrangements, negotiations, risk evaluation and general day-to-day legal support.

Summary of the job:
As part of the global Legal & Compliance team, the Corporate & Commercial Legal CEE, will be a part of the global L&C team, in providing high quality, strategic and practical legal advice, guidance and support for Getinge’s corporate and commercial issues in the Central East Europe region. In addition to the CEE region this role will also support a business/product area, head quartered in Stockholm (ACT, Critical Care), ideally be a part of relevant leadership teams and involves close collaboration with the business/product areas, sales and service, corporate and group functions, as well as, other regional in-house counsels and the overall global Legal & Compliance team.


Job Functions (Primary “essential” duties and responsibilities):
Responsible for leading and managing the EMEA/CEE commercial and corporate legal team in:
Providing hands-on legal support for the general corporate affairs of Getinge’s legal entities and operations in CEE including governance-related matters.
Managing a substantial contract workload with customers and suppliers, contractors, distributors and agents, service providers, software/technology providers, other internal corporate entities, etc.
Supporting the establishing of a contract management function in Global Sales as well as supporting this function with legal advice going forwards, including processes and procedures for documentation flow, approvals and reporting.
In cooperation with the global commercial legal team, drafting and revising contract templates for various transactions, and support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements.
Advising on contract status, legal risks and the legal liabilities associated with different deals.
Evaluating business transactions and identify potential liability related to business practices, policies and compliance risk. Providing guidance and feedback regarding business, legal, compliance, regulatory, quality and other related risks.
Conducting training for various legal topics, including training of other attorneys.
Researching and anticipating unique legal issues that could impact the organization.



Required Skills and Abilities:
This position requires proven legal skills and capability to teamwork and cooperate with all levels of an organization with a positive and engaging style despite sometimes challenging circumstances.
Solid experience working in a global organization and from legal work in Central East Europe.
Broad commercial experience and strong analytical and negotiation skills, as well as, the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams in a matrix reporting structure.
Solid knowledge of corporate and corporate governance matters, and knowledge of global business and international matrix models.
A team player with a proactive and customer-oriented mind set, providing high-quality legal support, often under time pressure.
Must possess good judgment in knowing when and how to escalate issues to the appropriate level and propose solutions.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Perform work with integrity and responsibility.
Advanced skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is required.
Fluent in English and one additional language spoken in the region.


Experience and Education Requirements:
At least 7 years of legal experience from a top tier law firm and an in-house legal function of a multinational company within the Life Science/Medical Device/Pharma sector, or other relevant business facing the equivalent commercial and regulatory concerns.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is essential.
Law degree.
