Head of Default Management to Nasdaq Clearing




Nasdaq Clearing is looking for a Head of Default Management to join our Stockholm Office. Nasdaq Clearing is part of Nasdaq Group and is Europes fourth largest clearing house. We are a multi-asset clearinghouse and we clear derivatives products for three different exchanges based on seven asset classes, in the equities, fixed income and commodities markets.


With this position we offer


This is a critical role for our clearinghouse where you will be part of Nasdaq Clearings first line of defense. You will have indirect responsibility over a team where together, you will be ensuring that we have robust plans and strategies in place for the management of counterparty defaults across different markets i.e. where one or several market participants default on their obligations to the clearinghouse. In a default situation, you will be responsible to propose a default strategy to the senior management of Nasdaq Clearing and to implement this strategy if approved. You will report to the Head of Clearing Risk and be part of the Clearing Risk Managements management team.


Your role and responsibilities


Drive Nasdaq Clearings default management efforts for all clearing services we provide, including, equity, commodities, fixed income and seafood, ensuring compliance to relevant regulations


Plan, conduct and improve on default management fire drills and exercises across all asset classes, with both internal and external stakeholders


Participate in international policy work on default management principles with other clearinghouses and other relevant stakeholder


Propose a default strategy to Nasdaq Clearings Default Committee in the event of a default situation


Ensure efficient use of the resources allocated for default management


External communication with clearing members and clients participating in the default management process


We expect you to have


University degree in Business, Finance, Economics or other relevant field


Solid risk management experience from the financial industry


Solid knowledge of at least one of Nasdaq Clearings markets


A highly organized and structured way of working for the planning of fire drills and exercises throughout the year


Experience in team and/or project management


The ability to remain calm in a stressful environment


Excellent communications skills in English both written and spoken to discuss and present to different internal and external stakeholders


It would be great if you have


Experience as a trader/desk analyst from one of Nasdaq Clearings markets or a closely linked market


Experience and knowledge in the relevant regulations governing default management in a clearing house


Fluency in Swedish
