Head of Legal - Volvo Mobility

The rise of the sharing economy, urbanization, a growing concern for the environment and improvements in technology (IOT) have all spurred the question: is there a better way to get around? This has triggered brands and cities to develop technologies and services that offer more convenient, efficient, and flexible ways to travel. Now that people have the choice, car sharing is literally exploding in number of users around the world. From only 350.000 in 2006, the number of car sharing users is expected to exceed 23 million in 2024.

This backdrop from which Volvo Cars has decided to launch a new global multiservice mobility venture. Volvo Cars has 20-30 years of experience in car sharing (Sunfleet) and Rental (Hertz) and the new venture will be able to draw from a vast base of experience.

It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of the team that now, based in Stockholm, will build the new company and globalize and scale the multiservice mobility offer for customers in many markets. Our new business will be 100% digitalized; starting from the customer and working ourselves backwards. Our future success lies in our ability to utilize technology to our advantage and develop an offer that is responding to real customer needs. This is a fast-up, and will develop the solutions ourselves. We will be act and work independent from our owner Volvo Cars, most likely under a separate brand name, but with the back-up and support of a progressive and experienced global actor.

We are looking for a small, able, growth minded team. We need experience and energy to develop a fully equipped new brand and operational model for pilots and later, global roll out. We are looking for a Head of Legal!

In this role you will be responsible for the Legal department at Volvo Mobility including contract management and data protection regulations, e.g. GDPR. The position is based at the headquarters in Stockholm and reports to the CFO.

Key accountabilities:
* Implement key legal processes that relate to legal drafting, M&A, security documents, corporate set-up and governance and commercial settlement agreements.
* Coordinate and review the work of internal or external legal staff internationally. Effectively establish and lead the future legal division.
* Provide useful legal insights to help make better decisions about executing business strategy.

* Ensure legal compliance in relation to the Group’s business, including data protection regulation. Escalate allegations of legal misconduct to executive team.

Qualifications
* Preferably a Master’s degree in Law or similar
* 5-10 years of experience from legal departments or law firms
* Experience of international collaboration on legal matters
* Experience in start-up or entrepreneurial environment
