The section Strategy and Concepts within the department Complete Powertrain Engineering is responsible for developing concepts and system solutions for propulsion systems including hybrid systems in Volvo Car Corporation vehicles and Powertrain control systems.
Are you ready to work with a cool, complex and challenging simulation environment? - You now have the opportunity to work with our Hardware In the Loop (HIL) environment, used for testing and calibration of the powertrain control software. The group Virtual Test Environments creates simulators for virtual testing and calibration as a complement to physical vehicle testing. The group currently consists of nine engineers and technical doctors working with development of simulation environments and controllable engine models, and now we need you!

As a HIL engineer - Virtual Test Environments, you will be part of a team creating system solutions, including integration of both mechanical and electrical hardware, control software and models - all running in real time. As you become an expert on the simulators, you will act as support for testers and calibration engineers, helping them getting started, troubleshooting, and working toward test automation. You will have the opportunity to work closely with engineers from all over Powertrain, and be part of a network of HIL engineers in other departments at Volvo Car Group.

Main responsibilities

* Develop system solutions for HIL simulators with respect to engine and transmission control systems
* Maintain, troubleshoot and improve existing applications
* Development, calibration and validation of powertrain models
* Support developers and test engineers
* Method development for HIL testing of engine and transmission control systems
* Improve current working methods through scripting and automation
* Support development of new test methods and test automation
* Document the work, to support traceability and redesign

Required qualifications

* Master of Science in Electrical, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent experience
* Skills in MATLAB/Simulink and programming
* Fluent in English, spoken and written
* Experience of simulation in HIL, SIL or MIL environments is meritorious
* Experience of controls and diagnostic system development is meritorious
* Experience of engine control systems is meritorious
* Experience in Python and Dymola is meritorious
