The Industrial Design Competence Center serves the entire Atlas Copco Group and our focus lies in the areas of:
Design Strategy
Exterior Design
Interior Design
Product Design
Ergonomics
Interaction
o MMI (Man-Machine Interaction)
o GUI (Graphical User Interface)
Product Branding

We serve as internal consultants and our clients are all divisions within the three Business Areas. Our major brands are Atlas Copco, Chicago Pneumatic and Dynapac.

We are now looking for a creative and driven industrial designer that want to join us to create Atlas Copco?s future products, equipment, tools and systems.

About the job
Your most important tasks are going to be:
Creation of visionary sketches
Development of feasible concepts
Detailed design definition
Support engineering during the implementation phase
Raise design issues during development projects

You are also going to work with:
Functional analysis
Product graphics
Product color schemes
Re-branding
Creation of physical models
Development of symbols and creation of safety signs according to current standards
Definition of standards and methods

We utilize hand sketch, sketch with Photoshop and Cintiq, vector graphics in Illustrator, presentation tools such as Powerpoint, InDesign, Flash and MindManager and CAD/3D tools such as Shot, Rhino and ProEngineer.

An important task is monitoring general trends within industrial design as well as researching the efforts of our competition and other manufacturers of heavy equipment and professional tools within the areas of industrial design, ergonomics, etc.

You are going to have an extensive cooperation with the Group?s engineering, marketing and communication departments as well as external consultancies. The work is very independent and you will have great possibilities to shape the Group?s products in team work with others.

About you
You have a Masters degree as an industrial designer, product designer or transportation designer (Master of Arts, Master of Fine Arts or Master of Design).

You are very proficient in Adobe CS, have good modeling skills in ProEngineer or Rhino, sketch outstanding both on paper and Cintiq and are an experienced model maker. Experience of industrial design within vehicle industry, heavy machine industry or business-to-business products is an advantage, also if you have been working with Man-Machine-Interaction and ergonomics.

You are a very creative, driven and goal-oriented self starter with a strong urge to accomplish results. It is required that you are able to negotiate, present and market the Industrial Design Competence Center?s ideas and points-of-view in a convincing, self-confident yet humble way. You have a positive attitude, are pro active, tend to see solutions and strive for improvements. You are great team player and have excellent communication skills both spoken and written. You are well structured and organized and have a strong sense of ownership, taking responsibility and leading until a successful conclusion. You are innovative and have the ability to get things done. You like to take the opportunity to market industrial design and are passionate about your role as internal consultant.

You need to be proficient in English, our corporate language in writing and speech. Additional language skills are a plus.
