The group Collision Avoidance within the department Active safety & Vehicle Dynamics functions, is responsible for function and software development. Current Volvo products offer collision avoidance technologies that supports drivers in avoiding rear-end and pedestrian accidents. This support consists of warning and autonomous emergency braking, but in the future autonomous steering interventions will be used as well. Several functions are in production and were launched as 'World First' such as City Safety and Full Auto-brake with pedestrian detection. There is a high set goal to continue this world leadership.

As Function and Software developer you will work in all phases of the development of Collision Avoidance functionality from early specifications, function model development and SW generation to launch and costumer quality validation. The role spans over several technical areas. Since the function is distributed over different parts of the car architecture, your network and interaction will be wide and challenging. In the junior role you will be able to drive your development by yourself due to our agile team based development process, where tasks is taken on own request and initiative. The team consists of a spread of engineers in age, gender, experience and background, from whom all you will learn. As a Senior Function and Software developer you will be able to develop leadership and technical skills and guide junior members of the team.

Main responsibilities

Required qualifications

* Experience from model development in Simulink
* Excellent English skills, verbally and in writing
* Driver's licence (B-level)

Junior:
* M.Sc. Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics, Computer Science with emphasis on control theory, interaction and function design
* Direct education of or master thesis within the Collision Avoidance or Active Safety Area is meritorious

Senior:
* At least M.Sc. Electrical Engineering, Technical Physics, Computer Science with emphasis on control theory, interaction and function design
* Ten years of work experience in function development or control theory and at least 5 years within Active Safety
* PhD with in system and signals, control theory or nearby area is meritorious
* An asset is experience of product development, preferably within the automotive industry such as experience of developing Collision Avoidance functionality
