The department Safety Electronics has been a rapidly growing part of Volvo Car Group over the last decade. This is due to development within Active Safety where Volvo, through continuous launching of innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders in the automotive industry. Now the work continues to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo Car.

Safety Electronics consists of approximately 65 employees organized into four sections: Preventive Safety, Protective Safety, Supportive Safety and Sensor Fusion. Within the department we develop systems solution that realize functions such as Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Full Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety. To do this we use sensor systems based on Radar, Laser, Ultrasonics, Cameras and Accelerometers. Through Sensor Fusion, these sensors are combined to create an awareness of the vehicle surroundings that can be used by various Driver Assist and Active Safety Functions to support the driver.

We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialization of the systems in accordance with Volvo Product Development System, (VPDS).

As a Lead Engineer for Full Automatic Parking (FAP) you will lead the engineering team in planning, sourcing, development and implementation. You will be the primary contact with the selected supplier as well as numerous internal interfaces within R&D, purchasing and manufacturing. Development is performed in close cooperation with a supplier in a creative and international work environment.

Main responsibilities
· Lead a cross functional engineering effort to deliver a system solution that meets functional requirements as well as being on time and within cost.
· Develop, monitor and update time plans and prioritise the team's work.
· Ensure that requirements are compiled, broken down and distributed between affected sub-systems and components.
· Ensure that Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) activities are carried out
· Ensure that a correct part structure is created and that the technical documentation is reviewed and released.
· Communicate the engineering time plan to other internal and external stakeholders.
· Manage the engineering team's efforts to develop a system in support of the project time plan
· Lead weekly follow-up meetings with supplier.
· Handle part structure in KDP and support the document release process in TCe.

Required qualifications
· MSc degree in engineering or equivalent
· Drivers license
· Excellent English skills, verbal and written
· A minimum of 5 years experience from automotive industry
· Previous experience from Electrical or SW development
· Previous experience from project management
· Meritorious is experience in Volvo Car Group tools (KDP, TCr, LEQM, PSR) and VPDS
