Lead Engineer Steering Mechanics, Electrics/Electronics & Chassis (EE&C)

Electrics/Electronics & Chassis is a unit within Research and Development at Volvo Cars. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Cars to fulfill its aggressive targets to be leading in the areas of Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics. The Chassis department is supporting these ambitions by developing first class mechanics, electronics and software for Steering, Suspension and Brakes.

The group Steering system and controls is seeking a motivated Lead Engineer who wants to contribute to the development and improve our future steering products. The areas of responsibility are Steering gear including tie rods, Steering column, Heat shield and Floor seal and plugs. The steering system and controls group plays a significant role in the exiting development of Autonomous Driving vehicles.

Main responsibilities

* To supervise and manage the work to develop the group's components, in terms of functionality, performance and quality
* To work in a cross-functional team and as be responsible to manage projects through all development phases, from advanced engineering to running production
* As Lead Engineer, you have the responsibility that time, technology and cost are held and will be kept within the agreed framework

Required qualifications

* M.Sc., alt. Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent competence through other education and /or professional experience
* Good knowledge in English (speaking/writing)
* You are used to take your own initiatives and to drive tasks to target
* Driving license

Preferable qualifications

* Design experience or testing experience
* Good knowledge of the concerned Volvo systems (such as the KDP, LEQM, POB, TSU etc)
* Knowledge of the project process system GPDS.

* A willingness to take responsibility for your and your team's commitments
* You enjoy and work well in a team and have good communication and planning skills. In order to achieve the above you are open, creative, positive and have the ability to listen to others
* You rather see opportunities than difficulties
