What do we offer?
We are organized in agile scrum teams using the Scale agile framework (SAFe). Working in new agile environment is bringing new challenges to our daily work as well as a lot of possibilities. The ART Surface Material (SMArt), which is an ART (Agile Release Train) included in ‘In Car Experience’ (Interior) within Vehicle Hardware, is responsible for developing all interior Surface Materials in our cars. SMArt includes three teams; Textile (SMArt-Tex), Deco, Polymers & Leather (DPL) and System Team supporting the Surface Material ART.
We are now looking for a Leather Technical Leader to our DPL team!
What will you do?
As a Material Technical Leader (MTL) within SMArt you will be responsible for developing and making decisions on future technology development within the area of Leather regarding quality, grain and colours.
This role includes a lot of great team work as you will work cross functionally and closely with other parts of the organization working with upholstery and leather, such as the Development teams, Product Design and Procurement. In our System Team we have a Technical Expert within Leather that you will cooperate closely with, and finally you will also work closely with the suppliers.
You will follow relevant research within the material area as well as making sure deliveries of materials correspond with appearance and haptic to our new car programs. You will also be responsible for Leather documentations (drawings, Technical requirements etc.) and sourcing for new car projects/programs. You will work with developing or adapting Leather test methods and requirements together with the Volvo Cars Materials Centre and the suppliers. Furthermore, you will lead and plan our advanced engineering projects, from idea to implementation in Car programs, making sure time plans of the deliveries are followed.
Finally, you will drive the constant development work and be Globally responsible for leather development.
Do you fit the profile?
To be successful in this role we believe you have a University degree, preferably within material science/engineering, or equivalent experience from years of practice, and relevant work-life experience from the technical field. In addition, since you will work in a global setting, we expect you to be fluent in English.
Competence and experience are important, but personality is key! As a leader in your area of expertise, you must be motivated and self-propelled with a high level of curiosity for new technologies. You need a high level of communication and presentation skills, inspiring people around you. For you, deadlines are really deadlines and you take pride in delivering on time. Also, you need to be analytical and structured and have a good sense for both technical- and strategic work as well as design, colour and shape.
We are looking for someone with good sense of humour; a great team player who is self-motivated and always strives for future development and challenges.
