Level Designer

Arbetsbeskrivning

Starbreeze is looking for a Level Designer to join our team in Stockholm. You will be responsible for developing full levels and work closely with the Lead Level Designer and Design Director to ensure that the game vision is represented in the levels.

You will use your Level Design skills to develop highly engaging gameplay experiences. You will work with the PAYDAY franchise, requiring an understanding of how systems integrate into your levels and how a single level can generate a variety of game experiences through non-linear design and randomization. Your competence, creativity, collaborative approach, and iterative process, ensures that players get the most out of PAYDAY games.

You would be welcomed to an open, creative environment where you’ll find opportunities to help shape the games we make and collaborate with a passionate team on one of the most popular co-op action franchises in the games industry.

If you share our passion for cooperative first person shooters, our Level Design team is the perfect place for you!

Responsibilities:

- Create layouts, missions and scripted events under the Lead Level Designer’s guidance
- Ensure memorable, dynamic and replayable levels through close collaboration with System Design, Art, Narrative and other disciplines
- Communicate your designs to the team and ensure your work is in line with the game vision
- Feedback on content produced by other disciplines and integrate those into your levels as the project progresses
- Evaluate the gameplay with the team and provide feedback and solutions to help improve and fine-tune the game
- Participate in playtests and creating work items based on playtesting feedback
- Manage and prioritize bugs related to your levels

Requirements:

- Experience with shipping projects (professional or amateur)
- A working knowledge of a professional Level Design tool
- Experience with scripting languages or visual scripting tools
- Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet the intended objectives
- Ability to creatively excel within professional, collaborative, and commercial game development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey abstract concepts
- Ability to constructively review and feedback the work of other team members
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced live operations development environment
