Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology offer the world's most comprehensive range of tools for rock drilling, raise boring, coal cutting, road grading and mineral mining. Through proprietary production processes and extensive in-house R&D, we continuously develop new rock drilling tools and cemented carbide grades that improve our customers operations and deliver superior performance and lower costs. The Rock Tools R&D unit is responsible for development of tools within Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology. Operations support the business with product development, research and technical support for the four Rock Tools product lines, and are conducted at several locations. As the requirements on our products become more and more challenging, understanding and modeling of the mechanics of rock drilling is critical for the development of next generation tools. We are now looking for a Manager for Applied Mechanics to lead the Applied Mechanics R&D team. The location for this position is Sandviken.

Job Summary
As Manager you are responsible for developing the Applied Mechanics competences within the unit as well as running and resourcing R&D projects within Rock Tools R&D in cooperation with internal and external partners. You are also responsible for continuously improving the operations. You lead the team of scientists and engineers in an innovative environment.

As Manager for Applied Mechanics you are a member of the Rock Tools R&D management team.

Your profile
You have an MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, or similar, including experience from leading R&D teams. Experience from leading teams or projects in the field of computational modeling and simulation, or applied mechanics is considered advantageous. You have excellent communication and networking skills, fluency in English is a pre-requisite, while knowledge in Swedish is a plus.
