We are growing our process and materials team within the Technology department and we are looking for an experienced Material Lab Leader to join our team. The challenge in this position is to combine advanced research activities with incoming material test requests.

The Process and Materials team within the Technology department is a small team of 11 highly skilled and committed physicists and mathematicians working closely together to bring the Electron Beam Melting (EBM) technology into the future. You will be part of this team but you will also work closely with lab-technicians and researchers from other departments to establish the best results and processes for Arcam EBM to stay in the lead of EBM Additive manufacturing technology. The main function of this laboratory is to perform research and provide expertise, advice and training on different methods and materials of importance for the EBM process. 

In the role as Material Lab Lead, you will be responsible for the routines and the continued development of the Material Lab and work with establishing and improving analyzing techniques and test methods. To be on top of our business we collaborate with external research institutes and our GE-global research center where we together develop new materials and techniques. You will also be semi-responsible for the Microscopy laboratory and its processes. We believe that you are an experienced, practical and service-minded person who understands what is needed to complete and finalize a task within research.



Responsibilities
• Establish and manage routines and processes for the material and microscopy laboratories
• Plan and perform tests incl. analyzing, interpreting and documentation of results
• Develop specific routines and techniques for characterizing EBM metallic materials
• Budget responsibility of the material and microscopy laboratories
• Purchasing of instruments and consumables
• Contact with suppliers regarding maintenance and calibration of instruments and machines
• Training of individuals in analyzing techniques



Qualifications
• You enjoy working in a creative and integrated environment where  a high level of communication and teamwork capabilities are success factors.
• You are self-going, driven and curious, not afraid of seeking new ways of working and take active part in improving internal efficiency. 
• Education background is M Sc. in applied physics or material engineering or equal relevant education. 
• Having a strong working background in practical laboratory work and analyzing and interpreting results is necessary for the position 
• Knowledge in materials characterization techniques is highly recommended.  
• Knowledge in different techniques such as: metallography, microscopy (optical/SEM), heat treatment, element analysis, powder characterization or mechanical testing will be considered valuable. 
• You need excellent skills in English and in Swedish, both written and spoken. 
• If you have experience working with failure analysis testing it will be meritorious.
