At ABB Robotics we develop, manufacture and market robots and associated control systems, software, arc welding products, tracks and motor packages. Our Global Product Improvements function secures the customer quality experience by improving safety, quality and cost on the broad product portfolio. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join a team of highly skilled colleagues and be engaged with robot design and engineering based on the latest technologies. Here it is of utmost importance to stay ahead of the competition and to develop new solutions and attract customers by technological leadership and design advantages. You will report to R&D Sub-Site Manager Mechanics.
Your responsibilities
Be involved in complex robot design and engineering, focusing on product improvement of existing products.
Encounter problem solving, prototype development and validation before implementation of improvements.
Be constantly focused on making our solutions quality-assured and cost-efficient with L6S as tool of success.
As mechanical design engineer you will use Solid Works and document your work in our PLM system and issue database.
Work closely with people not only within the global R&D organization but also with other parts of the organization such as production, supply unit, customer support.

Your background
A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Solid knowledge of mechanical engineering and deep interest of problem solving with a natural drive.
Extensive knowledge within at least one of the areas being casting & machining, movable structural design, sealings or gear wheel design as well as experienced with tools like Solid Works or similar.
Experience of Hygienic design and Plastics design are also beneficial for the position.
Instinctive willingness and ability to co-operate with others to achieve common goals.
Creative and solutions-focused personality.
Fluency in English is a requirement, written and spoken alike.
