O&M bid/proposal manager

A snapshot of your day

You will be responsible for creating and overseeing a bid project team to develop a detailed, costed, persuasive proposal on behalf of the organization to gain a business contract, while also doing hands-on work yourself. We define, document, and fully develop O&M project proposals and contracts that conform cost, schedule, risk, and terms. Additionally, we work in conjunction with Sales to support customer technology selection, project definition and site selection/permitting.

How You will Make an Impact
* Estimate project costing (OPEX) per required scope by using in-house tools, historic cost data and future market outlook for price/cost development in O&M market (specially in Power Generation).
* Drive bid preparation and submission of documentation in close alignment with leading Area Sales Manager and Commercial Sales Management.
* Align costing of all involved suppliers, service and sub-contractors on projects and functions to optimize cost position (e.g., by cost review and cost-out meetings)
* Work directly with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Execution and Services Teams to obtain their costing feedback for building the estimate and updating existing proposal and cost models
* Audit and analyse actual costs with estimated costs to determine if variances exist. Initiate corrective action on any discrepancies and implement lessons learned
* Consider global commercial costing rules like transfer pricing, currency management, etc.
* Track historic bids and quotations in Database to develop empirical basis for upcoming bids.
* Join contract negotiations, support systematic documentation, and communication of the negotiation results, to ensure achievement of the planned volume of new orders in line with the stipulated positive margin.
* Support handover of successful project acquisitions to Project Management teams and support as required
* Implement Siemens Energy project management guidelines to ensure high-quality bids incl. risk mitigation
* 10 – 20% business travel (international & domestic)

What You Bring 
* Engineering Degree and/or Advanced Degree (MBA).
* 6+ years of experience in O&M of Power plant, from conventional fired boiler steam generators to Gas Turbine combined cycles.
* Familiar with CMMS, Permit to Work concept, LO-TO and shift rotation calendar preparation
* 4+ years of experience related to O&M maintenance annual budget preparation, Cost WBS.
* Demonstrated deep technical knowledge on Power plant utilities, GT, SST, HRSG and BOP
* Contract law (local & international), compliance rules & regulations and claim management.
* Risk & Quality Management, PM@Siemens Energy, LOA guidelines & bidding process.
* Strong affinity for the costing / pricing process during the pre-order stage, supported by experience with respective costing tools
* Strong drive with motivation skills to accomplish tasks with high quality and on time with attention to detail
* Pro-active and hands-on character with economical thinking and a strong will to provide best in class project support and willingness to improve the business every day
* Analytical, pragmatic, and enthusiastic individual and ability to work independently with have a strong sense of responsibility and confident appearance
* Strong intercultural skills and working experience in muti-national companies and virtual teams.
* Conflict & People Management, EHS and quality mindset.
* Strong in both written and oral English.
* Strong knowledge of MS Office applications skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Project
