A PhD position is available within the Privacy and Security Group (PriSec) at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Karlstad University.
Research within PriSec is specialized on privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), network and operating system security as well as usability of security and PETs.
The position is focused on usable privacy and security. The candidate is expected to contribute to research within the EU H2020 project CREDENTIAL and the KK profile project HITS.
Knowledge or experience in the areas of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), and especially usable security & privacy, is desirable. In particular, we welcome experiences in the design and implementation of usable user interfaces and in conducting user studies and the statistical analysis on data, as well as a basic understanding of psychological usability aspects. Basic knowledge of information security, privacy concepts, and privacy-enhancing technologies is desirable as well.
Good programming skills as well as good oral and written communication skills in English are required for the position.
The candidate should be able to work independently, as well as in a team; and be enthusiastic about pushing the state-of-the-art. Collaboration with academic and industry partners through national/ international research projects is expected.
Eligibility
Eligible for this position are candidates with a University degree of 240 ECTS, of which at least 60 ECTS were awarded for courses at advanced level and have a Master’s degree or the Swedish Magister or Civilingenjör Degrees in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent. Eligible are also those candidates who have achieved corresponding degrees or knowledge in Sweden or abroad.
Terms
The position is limited to 4 years, but can be prolonged for up to one more year, if the PhD student also takes over other research, teaching or administrative tasks besides her/his PhD research. Those tasks should not exceed 20% of the time of a full-time position. The earliest date for filling the position is September 1, 2015.
