PhD student in Vehicular Systems

Duties: The aim of a new project together with Scania, a Swedish heavy-duty vehicle manufacturer, is to increase life and reduce the cost of expensive components by introducing intelligent and individual-specific maintenance. The research aims to investigate how statistical analysis and machine learning methods combined with signal processing and physical modeling can be used to estimate the remaining life of components in heavy-duty vehicles. Large amount of data has been collected continuously from a large number of vehicles in operation. Scania will use the results to develop a condition based maintenance system for heavy vehicles.

The doctoral student should focus primarily on the research training. However, a doctoral student may engage, to a limited extent, in teaching, research and administration. Such work is limited to a maximum of 20 percent of full-time.
