Arbetsbeskrivning
The Computer Systems unit at RISE in Kista is looking for a researcher in the area of decentralized deep learning for edge/IoT devices, with applications in graph representation learning.
About the position
The Computer Systems unit within the Computer Science department at RISE performs leading research and development together with industrial and public sector partners, as well as in EU and national research projects in the areas of system software, compilers, stream processing, AI/ML platforms, and AI/ML applications. The Computer Science department spans a wide spectrum of competences, from cyber security, IoT embedded systems, datacenter technologies, industrial data analysis, to AI platforms and applications.
With the parallel evolution and spreading of IoT and AI through a variety of markets, it is necessary to develop novel, efficient solutions to perform advanced deep learning tasks directly on edge devices while ensuring data privacy and security. This is particularly true in the domain of graph representation learning, as both the edge/fog devices themselves and the data they store often take the form of complex graphs. We are now looking to strengthen our team at the intersection of decentralized ML and graph representation learning to tackle these challenges.
As a Researcher in our team, you get the opportunity to work in a growing and leading institute with great development opportunities. You become an important team player in a committed team with high competence and who value working in close collaboration, both within the team and with our national and international partners.
In your role as a Researcher, you will work with all stages of research, including project definitions, funding applications, project work and reporting. The work also includes having contacts with stakeholders and partners, sharing competence and experiences and building collaborations.
Your most important duties are:
- Perform leading research in the area of secure and privacy-aware decentralized ML for edge/IoT devices, with applications to graph representation learning, strengthening the position of RISE in these domains.
- Collaborate with projects in adjacent areas at all levels within RISE.
- Actively engage in seeking project funding towards public financing and industrial assignments
- Supervise students
Who are you?
As a Researcher with us, we believe that you are a passionate and solution-oriented person who likes to take on new opportunities. You enjoy sharing your research with others and build interdisciplinary collaborations, and you like to transform ideas into experiments and understanding. Through your understanding and flexible approach, you come to your right in an environment that is dynamic.
You have – or are about to obtain – a PhD degree within the relevant research areas. You performed extensive research in the area of decentralized ML and its applications, publishing relevant research papers in recognized international venues. You have experience with supervising students. Since we partner with institutions both within and outside Sweden, we see that you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English.
Are we right for each other?
At RISE we like differencies and we are convinced that diversity contributes to an innovative environment where we together challenge boundaries and develop new knowledge for the future. With us, passionate problem solvers meet to solve some of the world's most important, and perhaps most fun, problems. We can't promise you a simple job, but what we can promise you is a bunch of committed colleagues and some really exciting societal challenges to deal with. You will work in a dynamic environment that gives you development opportunities both professionally and personally. With us you get the opportunity to make a real difference. Welcome to all of Sweden's research institutes and innovation partners.
