Postdoc Fellow in Gene Therapy

Postdoc Fellow in Gene Therapy

Arbetsbeskrivning

Innovative industrial Postdoc Program:

We're currently looking for a talented scientist to join our innovative academic-style Postdoc. From our centre in Gothenburg, Sweden, you'll be in a global pharmaceutical environment, contributing to live projects right from the start. You'll take part in a comprehensive training programme, including a focus on drug discovery and development, given access to our existing Postdoctoral research, and encouraged to pursue your own independent research in cutting edge laboratories. It's a newly expanding programme spanning a range of therapeutic areas across a wide range of disciplines.

What's more, you'll have the support of a leading academic advisor, who'll provide you with the guidance and knowledge you need to develop your career. This is an exciting area that hasn't been explored to its full potential, making this an opportunity to make a real difference to the future of medical science.

About the Opportunity:

Imagine… one day we live in a world where a diagnosis of a severe genetic disease does not sound terrifying. Why? Because almost all genetic diseases have effective medicines to cure them. Here at AstraZeneca, we are turning this dream into a reality! We are developing state-of-the-art tools and models to advance gene and cell therapy approaches. Don't you want to join this legendary effort?

As a postdoctoral scientist in the Precise Genome Editing Team, you will join an innovative group of high performing individuals who live and breathe science. We focus on pre-clinical research - understanding fundamental biological processes to eventually design novel therapeutic approaches and strategies of critical value in various disease areas.

We're looking for a postdoc to run an independent project in a welcoming and supportive environment, while taking advantage of modern equipment and proprietary technologies. You will be encouraged to collaborate with top academic laboratories. We will make sure that you have all the resources required to successfully finalize your project and publish your results. Our work led by former postdoctoral scientists has been published in leading journals and is highly cited (PMID: 30032200, 31000663, 30593278, 30209390, 30646909).

Would you like to apply your molecular & cell biology skills and scientific knowledge to a project with a therapeutic value? This could be it!

Essential Education and Experience:

* PhD degree in molecular/cell biology/genetics
* Possess a broad multidisciplinary experience and rigorous scientific knowledge (including strong molecular biology skills and advanced understanding of genetic engineering)
* Outstanding work ethic (patience, discipline, the desire to work hard, perseverance and the ability to develop and follow a plan)
* Strong publication record
* Superior communication skills, both written and oral

Skills and Capabilities:

* Creative and innovative scientist
* Must be pro-active (not reactive) strategic, and goal-oriented
* Team player who knows how to effectively collaborate and problem solve
* Demonstrate passion about science and seek answers to fundamental scientific questions
* Willing to take calculated risks and always looking to grow

This is a 3 year programme. 2 years will be a Fixed Term Contract, with a 1 year extension which will be merit based. The role will be based in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a competitive salary and benefits.
