Postdoctoral fellow in Modern Japanese and/or Ko

Ph.D. in Japanese or Korean Studies, or in a field of social sciences, economics or law related the study of modern Japan and/or Korea. A research proposal (max. 5,000 words) and workplan covering the two years of the employment period should be included in the application. The application should also include a CV, scanned copy of doctoral diploma, list of publications, teaching and tutoring experience (if any), pedagogical courses (if any), academic conference participation, and the names and contact information of three referees.

Specific subject description

Study of modern Japan and/or Korea from an interdisciplinary and social sciences perspective. Studies that focus on issues in the fields of social sciences, economics, law and modern history are included in the subject description. Please note that research in linguistics, litterature and language studies in general are not included in the subject description.

Job assignments

Research, as well as teaching, tutoring and examination within the Centre's MSc programme in Asian Studies. Research is allocated approximately 80% of the total employment time. During this employment the postdoctoral fellow is expected to participate actively in the Centre's activities, participate in academic conferences, and be willing to cooperate in applications for external funding.


Eligibility/Entry Requirements

The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The qualifications for employment as postdoctoral fellow follow central agreements. PhD, awarded not more than 3 years before the date of commencement of employment.
