Postdoctoral position in Human Factors and Digitalisation

Arbetsbeskrivning

Information about the research
Digitalisation is one of the worldwide trends that impact the way people live and work. Almost all companies, including transport and logistics companies, face the pressure of digitally enabled change.

You are to develop further knowledge on digitalisation and digital tools in a transport and logistics context and from a human factors perspective. More in particular, the research task involves eliciting and harmonising users' requirements, identifying and addressing factors influencing users' and organisations' adoption, and assessing the consequences of introducing these tools in different organisational contexts. The research will be closely connected to an ongoing EU project (AEOLIX, aeolix.net). The AEOLIX project - Architecture for European Logistics information Exchange - is to develop a cloud-based collaborative, logistics ecosystem for managing information that support logistics decisions and enabling more sustainable and efficient transport of goods across Europe. An essential element of the approach is to ensure an easy-to-use ecosystem for different actors. You will be part of a team consisting of two PhD students, five senior researchers and in total two postdocs (of which you are one) and participate in at least two of altogether 11 Living Labs where digital tools will be developed and evaluated in close collaboration with user organisations. Active user participation and co-creation are important keywords in the further development of Living Lab methodologies.

Major responsibilities
Your main responsibility is to perform research and to publish research results in meritorius journals in the field. The research requires you to interact with industrial partners, to plan and conduct empirical studies, to propose and evaluate new designs of digital tools (incl. HMI), and to communicate the results to different stakeholders. You will also be involved in teaching and/or other departmental tasks.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment limited to two years. You will spend approximately 80% of this time on research and maximum 20% on teaching and/or other departmental tasks.

Qualifications
To qualify for the postdoc position, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field (such as human factors engineering, industrial design engineering, systems engineering, HCI/interaction design, or similar). The degree should generally not be older than three years. Experience of development and/or research in the field of transport and logistics are meritorious as is work experience from the domain. Other meritorious experiences and skills include:

• Access to a developed research network as well as a professional network.
• Experiences of collaboration with partners outside academia. The research is expected to be conducted in a collaborative fashion in several different constellations within the academic community and in interaction with industrial partners. Hence, value is placed on collaboration ability, social skills and the ability to create a stimulating work environment.
• Ability to publish results from research in highly-ranked academic journals.
• Communication skills (oral and written)
• Experience of teaching and supervising projects
• Experience in working with project management and writing grant applications.

Chalmers continuously strives to be an attractive employer. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities at Chalmers.
